Bajaj has unveiled the Chetak Electric Scooter in India. It is likely to be priced at around Rs 1.25 lakhs and the company will sell it in a phased manner starting from Pune and Bengaluru next year.
As per Bajaj, the Chetak electric scooter comes with a 4kW electric motor and an IP67-rated lithium-ion battery pack. The scooter has two riding modes-Eco and Sport and comes with reverse assist feature too. The range of the Sport mode is 85km while that of Eco mode is 95km claimed by Bajaj. It will sell the electric scooters in blue, red, white, silver, beige and black through Bajaj’s pro-biking premium dealership network.
Five hours to fully charge
The Chetak has a round- shaped LED headlamp and a horseshoe-shaped LED Daytime Running lamp (DRL). The scooter has an in-built charger and can be charged using a 5A home power outlet. It will take five hours to fully charge the scooter. Bajaj also said it will also sell a home-charging station at a less cost which will show the amount of energy consumed during a charging session. The scooter has 12-inch MRF Zapper-K tyres and regenerative braking.
Vehicle parameter monitoring and security
The bike also has a Combined Braking System (CBS) as a standard to ensure the safety of the driver as per Bajaj. The scooter has a long footboard to provide enough legroom to the user. It also has two cubbyholes and a storage space with a locking lid.
The scooter has a fully digital instrument cluster that will show a bunch of information. It also has features like vehicle parameter monitoring and security as per Bajaj. The bike comes with a steel body. Bajaj also launched its Urbanite brand with this electric scooter launch in New Delhi.
