- The company is worried that the demand for its first 5G phones will be weak due to the Coronavirus pandemic
- Supply constraints are a concern too
Lower consumer appetite
The report stated that a source with direct knowledge of the discussion said other than supply constraint, Apple is concerned that the current situation would significantly lower consumer appetite to upgrade their phones. It would lead to a tame reception of the first 5G iPhone. Reportedly, Apple has held internal discussions and might delay the launch by a few months. The report said that one iPhone component supplier has indicated a later launch is possible.
Apple is rumoured to introduce four new iPhone models in 2020. It is expected that the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will be successors to the 2019 models.
