  • It is based on LG’s AI platform augmented by Amazon’s smart supply-reordering and delivery system

LG Electronics (LG) will introduce its ThinQ home appliance lineup with integrated Amazon dash replenishment for the European market at IFA 2019. LG ThinQ appliances with dash replenishment, as per the company, save users the chore of repeatedly reordering essential supplies, allowing them to set up smart reordering of detergent and laundry supplies from Amazon when supplies run low so they never run out of essentials.

“We are thrilled to present our ThinQ lineup with Amazon Dash Replenishment for the European market at IFA 2019. Combining our industry-leading products with value-added services continues to be a strategic priority in order to create a smart home that allows customers to spend less time on chores and more time on what they enjoy,” said Song Dae-hyun, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance and Air Solution Company.

Focus on IoT

Interestingly, LG is now among the biggest consumer electronics brands to have almost completely shifted its focus on embedding IoT in consumer electronics and appliances. The company had recently announced development of an AI chip as well. LG had said that this chip will be used in many of its home appliances and consumer electronics.

The company has recently collaborated with Lumi Technologies as well. Lumi United Technology is an Internet of Things (IoT) and smart home solution provider.

Ryu Hye-jung, executive director of LG Home Appliance and Air Solution Company’ smart home business has said, “Through this strategic partnership LG will evolve the connected home ecosystem in ways that will matter to consumers, expanding our smart home solutions to include smart buildings as well as smart cities.”

Company’s official statement read, “LG ThinQ appliances with Dash Replenishment save users the chore of repeatedly reordering essential supplies, allowing them to set up smart reordering of detergent and laundry supplies from Amazon when supplies run low so they never run out of essentials. The convenient service will initially be available on LG ThinQ washing machines and dishwashers in Europe including France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom starting this fall.”
