Moto Z3 First Commercially Available 5G Smartphone Claims Company

The smartphone, as per Motorola, can be combined with a moto mod in order to be converted into a 5G smartphone

With Verizon turning on its 5G Ultra Wideband network, Motorola has also started offering a moto mod that it claims can convert the existing Motorola Z3 smartphones into 5G enabled units. It is to be noted here that the company is retailing 5G mod and Moto Z3 smartphones separately.

Motorola’s official statement read, “By simply snapping on the 5G moto modTM, users can connect their moto z3 to Verizon’s 5G network and enjoy a faster and smoother smartphone experience. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem and packed with QTM052 mmWave antenna modules, the 5G moto mod leverages Motorola’s moto mod platform to connect moto z3 users to 5G without having to buy a new smartphone.”

Interestingly, almost every smartphone company is gearing up to launch 5G smartphones in a lot of markets. The likes of LG, Samsung and Huawei are done testing with 5G smartphones. Huawei has even listed Mate X 5G enabled smartphone on Huawei Mall. It is expected that the China-based smartphone company will start retailing it from June 2019.

Xiaomi has also recently announced that it has successfully developed a 5G smartphone. Wang Xiang, Senior Vice President of Xiaomi had said, “Xiaomi has spent tremendous efforts developing a 5G smartphone solution and Mi MIX 3 5G smartphone represents Xiaomi’s quest to create innovative products for everyone.”

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, at an event said, “The pursuit of speed has defined the OnePlus DNA since OnePlus was founded five years ago. There’s no one more suitable than OnePlus to make a 5G smartphone. OnePlus also said that it will be launching its first 5G smartphone in UK’s four capital cities namely– London, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast, and Birmingham and Manchester.
