OnePlus has announced a new feature called Optimized Charging for users to protect their devices from overcharging. The company will make it available to OnePlus smartphones soon.
The company will make it available with latest OxygenOS beta builds for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. There is no information whether this feature will be made available to older OnePlus smartphones.
Charged to 80 per cent initially
The company claims that with this feature, the battery will be charged to 80 per cent initially when the user plugs it for overnight charging. After this, charging will be temporarily suspended using the ‘user sleep cycle detection’ feature. The phone will stay at 80 per cent charge for most of the night though it is connected to the charger. It will finish charging to 100 per cent before user’s wake up time, first alarm or first event.
Settings option
To use this feature, the user has to go to the settings option. Then the user has to select the battery option and turn on the Optimized Charging feature. OnePlus says that it will collect relevant data, which will be stored on-device and will learn from the user’s daily routine. As per the company, when this feature is active, it will be shown on the battery icon and a muted notification will be displayed in the drop-down notification. The user can disable the mode by tapping the Continue Charging button in the drop-down notification
