Image for representation (pic credit- thebluediamondgallery)According to a report by Industryglobalnews24, university students in South Korea voted technology major Samsung electronics as the most desirable future employer, as per a study conducted by online job portal JobKorea. The study surveyed 473 male students and 586 female students.
Out of the students surveyed, 10.3 per cent chose Samsung Electronics as the company where they preferred to work the most. This was followed by Korean Air at 7.6 per cent. Food manufacturer CJ CheilJedang and Korea Electric Power Corporation secured the third and fourth position at 6.7 per cent and 5.9 per cent respectively.
Samsung Electronics Topping since 2017
There was a tie at the fifth position between Samsung C&T and Shinsegae Group’s retail chain E-mart by securing 5.1 per cent of the votes. JobKorea has been conducting survey since 2004. Samsung Electronics has secured the top spot since 2017. In 2016, CJ CheilJedang bagged the top slot.
As per the report, male students preferred Samung Electronics followed by Kepco, SK hynix, Korean Air and Samung C & T. For female students, CJ CheilJedang was the first choice. It was followed by Korean Air, Samsung Electronics, Asiana Airlines, E-mart and Hotel Lotte.
One in five students of science and engineering chose Samsung Electronics
The report said that one in every five students of science and engineering chose Samsung Electronics and one in every 10 business students preferred Shinhan Bank. Students majoring in humanities and social science chose Korean Air. For students majoring in sports and entertainment, Korean Air and Samsung C & T were the top choices.
The major determinant for the choice by students was the salary. Other factors included image of the company president and working environment.
