Xiaomi Starts Retailing its First 5G Smartphone in Europe

Xiaomi has partnered with Sunrise to retail its first 5G smartphone in Switzerland. Oppo has also started retailing its 5G smartphone in the same country

Chinese smartphone company has started retailing Mi Mix 3 5G smartphone starting 2 May 2019 in Switzerland, Europe. The MI Mix 3 5G smartphone was first showcased at the Mobile World Congress event earlier this year.

Xiaomi’s official statement read, “Today, one of our operator partners—Sunrise—has announced that Mi Mix 3 5G will be available starting May 2nd in Switzerland. Customers can also visit Sunrise stores to get a taste of the unprecedented 5G speeds and its transformative impact on user experience offered by Mi MIX 3 5G.”

Interestingly, another China-based smartphone brand, Oppo, had also announced the launch of its 5G smartphone in Europe last week. Oppo also said that its Reno 5G smartphone, has become the first commercial 5G smartphone available on market in Europe.

Mi Mix 3 5G features

Mi Mix 3 5G is Xiaomi’s first 5G-compatible smartphone. It comes integrated the Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem. Mi Mix 3 5G , as per the company, can connect to sub-6GHz signals capable of gigabit-class download speed.

Xiaomi’s official statement read, “Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC and a newly designed hybrid cooling system, Mi Mix 3 5G is able to sustain prolonged and stable peak performance. Mi Mix 3 5G also features a Full Screen Display enabled by its unique sliding design, not to mention one of the world’s best smartphone photography experiences.”

In comparison to Mi Mix 3, Oppo’s Reno 5G is also powered by the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 mobile platform. The company is retailing the same in 8GB+256GB storage variant. Oppo Reno 5G is powered by a 4065mAh battery.

It is to be noted here that Oppo is also retailing the phone in European markets starting with Switzerland. The company has begun selling Reno 5G smartphone in partnership with Swisscom.
