Amazon Introduces New Kindle Device in India

The device is now the newest member in the Amazon India Kindle family. It includes Kindle Paper White and Kindle Oasis.

Amazon has introduced a new Kindle device with adjustable front light at a price tag of Rs 7,999 in India. The same version of the e-reader has been announced at a price of $89.99 (approx. Rs 6,181.77) in Amazon’s home country, the US.

Kevin Keith, vice president, Amazon Devices, US, said, “The team worked hard to bring this customer-favorite feature to our most affordable device, and we’re excited to introduce the all-new Kindle – the first Kindle under $100 with a built-in adjustable front light.”

Jayshree Gururaj, director, Amazon Devices, added, “We are excited to announce that we have now brought the built-in adjustable front light feature to our all-new Kindle along with other classic features that customers love for just ₹7,999.”

The device is now the newest member in the Amazon India Kindle family. It includes Kindle Paper White and Kindle Oasis.

Promotions to Drive Early Sales

Amazon India has also announced promotional offers that seem to be aimed towards driving early sales for the new kindle device. The US-based company is retailing the new Kindle in black and white color options.

Company’s official statement read, “Early-bird customers who pre-order the device on or before April 9 will get their first eBook free. They will also get a two-year Device Total protection plan worth Rs 1,199 completely free.”

Front Light Kindle Features

Amazon Kindle, with adjustable front light, measures 6 inches and offers a 167-ppi display. The company has equipped it with 4 GB internal storage. It’s screen, as per the company, features four in-built LED lights. Connectivity options on the device are limited to Wi-Fi support.

It weighs 174 g. This new Kindle supports Kindle Format 8 (AZW3), Kindle (AZW), TXT, PDF, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively; HTML DOC, DOCX, JPEG, GIF, PNG, PMP (through conversion) formats.

Amazon India website claims that the battery can last up to 4 weeks. The company is also providing free cloud storage for all Amazon content.
