Astrum, has announced the launch of its latest Bluetooth speaker named ‘Barrel speaker ST290’ in India. The company has launched this speaker at a price of Rs 1,690. Astrum is retailing the same through its offline sales channel and Amazon e-commerce portal in the country.

Speaker can charge smartphones too
There are a lot of brands offering Bluetooth speakers in the market at these prices. However, Astrum’s strategy of equipping the speaker with a feature that can be used to charge smartphones, may work in Astrum’s favour.
Astrum’s official statement claims that the speaker is made of fibre material. The statement read, “The ST290 comes equipped with a dimension of 49.3 x 80 x 201mm (L x W x H) and weight up to 0.43kg. The bass heavy Bluetooth speaker, produces 3W RMS with distortion-free sound, that enhances low frequency sounds while sparking high frequencies for bold and dynamic treble with a heart thumping bass.”
It continued, “The speaker packs a 1500 mAh rechargeable battery which delivers up to six hours of playback time. The speaker comes with multi-functional connectivity like BT/TF/USB and supports FM. The portable speaker also has media controls, volume controls on the side. Additionally in case of emergency the speaker can also charge your mobile phone same as power bank simply connecting USB to the speaker.”
Astrum working on a new production facility
Astrum has been working on a new production facility in India from February 2019. It as per a MoU with Andhra Pradesh government has agreed to invest Rs 100 crores (1000 million) in Andhra Pradesh.
Manoj Kumar Pansari, CMD, Astrum had said, “This is indeed a big milestone for us. The choice of Andhra Pradesh as the destination for the new manufacturing unit is due to the state’s ease of doing business and growing focus on ‘Make in India’. We are happy to have laid the ground for the Astrum manufacturing plant here in Tirupati. This facility will also help us in expanding our manufacturing capabilities while increasing our reach in the Southern India.”
