Sony Launches Dolby Atmos Powered Soundbar in India


Sony is retailing its latest soundbar at a price of Rs 29,990 in the country. Sony claims it features five different sound modes

Sony India has announced the launch of HT-X8500 Soundbar in India. The company claims that it delivers great sound and does not create a need for extra speakers.

“Sony HT-X8500 soundbar is designed to enhance the audio to complement the TV viewing experience. With Dolby Atmos and built-in sub-woofer, cinema and music lovers will see, hear and feel their favorite shows, movies, and music like never-before” said Hidenori Hino, business head, Audio, Sony India.

Interestingly, Sony’s HT-X8500 Soundbar is one of the expensive ones available in the market today. The likes of Mi, Portronics and Ptron are retailing soundbars in prices below Rs 7,000 here.

Sony’s latest offering in the Soundbar space features Dolby Atmos and a built-in sub-woofer. The company said that this soundbar can deliver a maximum of 7.1.2ch surround sound. Company’s official statement read, “With Sony’s unique Digital Signal Processing technologies such as Vertical Surround Engine and S-Force PRO Front Surround technology, maximum 7.1.2 ch surround sound can be experienced from the HT-X8500 without the need for extra speakers.”

It continued, “The built-in dual sub-woofer delivers deep bass sound and with Cinema Mode on one of the seven optimized sound modes, you can experience every film at its best with just a click of a button. The HT-X8500 has eARC support for high quality audio codecs to pass through from your TV to your soundbar.”

This soundbar weighs 3.1 kg and comes equipped with Bluetooth connectivity options. It also features five different sound modes ranging from movies to sports.
