Global fashion accessories brand Fossil Group has unveiled seven new touchscreen smartwatches under six of its sub-brands for the younger lot of India. Johnson Verghese, Managing Director, Fossil India, says that the new range is mainly for the tech-savvy youngsters of the country.
According to Gautam Sharma, Vice President, Brand Strategy, Fossil, Asia Pacific Region, the brand’s mission has been to mix technology and design in the smartwatch market.
New smartwatches
The seven new smartwatches are – Fossil Gen 4 Smartwatch Venture HR and Explorist HR, Skagen Falster 2 for Skagen, Michael Kors Access Runway for Michael Kors, Emporio Armani Connected for Emporio Armani, A|X Armani Exchange Connected for Armani Exchange and Diesel Full Guard for Diesel. The starting price for the smartwatches is Rs 19,995.
Fossil’s new wearables are powered with Wear Operating System (OS) by Google and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset. These also feature a touchscreen digital display, Bluetooth technology, wireless syncing and magnetic charging that is compatible with iOS 9.3+, Android 4.4+ excluding Go edition and long battery life.
Packed with technology
Fossil has packed the new product line with technology that has a heart rate sensor, GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light and microphone. A user can automatically track her/his heart rate during logged exercises with Google Fit. The dials of the smartwatches display the user’s heartbeat per minute after tracking the heart rate.
The new range also features GPS capabilities to track walks and runs, hikes, bike rides and more with the support of Google Fit and third-party fitness apps. It also flaunts an additional swim-proof function that helps users track their swim workouts.
