United States headquartered smart wearable brand Garmin has launched a GPS-enabled smartwatch in India. Christened Garmin Instinct, the brand has priced it at Rs 26,990 in the country.
Garmin roped in Rannvijay Singha for the Instinct smart wearable launch event. Singha who is famous as a Roadies reality show winner in the country, posted on Twitter, “Don’t keep calm as Garmin India launches its first ever lifestyle watch in India – Instinct.”
Touted as the first lifestyle watch by Garmin in the country, Garmin Instinct features wrist-based heart rate monitor, 3-axis compass and barometric altimeter. Ali Rizvi, national sales manager, Garmin India, said, “We are excited to introduce Instinct as India’s first lifestyle watch for the people who wish to have an approachable smartwatch that is rugged and reliable.”
Garmin had acquired Navionics S.p.A., a privately-held worldwide provider of electronic navigational charts and mobile applications for the marine industry in the past.
Garmin ‘Instinct’ smart watch features
The watch is available in flame red, graphite and tundra colors in India. Garmin Instinct smart watch, as claimed by the company, is built on U.S. military standard 810G for thermal, shock and water resistance. It comes with built in 3-axis compass and barometric altimeter, and boosts multiple global navigation satellite systems including GPS, GLONASS and Galileo.
The latest Garmin smart watch provides up to 14 days of battery life in smartwatch mode, up to 14 hours in GPS mode and up to 35 hours in ‘UltraTrac’ battery saver mode (depending on settings).
It is capable of monitoring heart rate, activity and stress throughout the day. It also comes loaded with activity profiles for sports including running, biking, swimming and more.
