Global Smartphone Makers to Ship 750 Million 5G Handsets in 2022: Qualcomm

According to a report by ET Telecom, the world’s largest supplier of mobile phone chips, Qualcomm Inc expects global smartphone makers to ship 450 million 5G handsets in 2021 and another 750 million in 2022.

Qualcomm informed that the 5G adoption will be faster than 4G due to the timing of commercialization of the technology in China and availability of chipsets across different price tiers.

5G in more than 30 cities by the end of this year

Verizon Communications Inc stated that it expects revenue from 5G growth opportunities to increase next year and anticipates launching 5G in more than 30 cities by the end of this year.

According to a report by Reuters, Qualcomm hinted at the arrival of a 5G iPhone in 2020 this time. The news came from Qualcomm’s investors conference call. As per the news agency, the company CFO Akash Palkhiwala mentioned that several handsets with 5G chips will be launching during the ‘Spring’.

These devices are likely to come from Samsung and some other Chinese manufacturers. Palkhiwala added that the second wave of flagship handsets with 5G chips will arrive in the ‘fall’ time frame.
