Xiaomi’s global VP took to Twitter to announce Mi’s latest consumer electronics product in India. Dubbed, Mi water TDS tester, the company has announced it at a price of Rs 349 here. The company has taken the crowdfunding route for the same.
Manu Kumar Jain tweeted, “Mi Turns 5: We are launching TDS tester at ₹349. We’re celebrating with exciting offers, engagement activities & a super fun interactive game where you can blow candles to wish Mi a Happy Birthday!”
It is to be noted here that Xiaomi has previously introduced shoes through the same route in India. Mi had also forayed into the grooming consumer electronics market by launching a trimmer for men here.

0-9990 PPM TDS range
Xiaomi on its India website, says that its water TDS tester is capable of detecting impurities in the 0-9990 PPM range. This Mi water TDS tester is capable of detecting solubale salts, ionic organics and heavy metal ions. Xiaomi says that this water tester can be used to test
tap water, boiled water, bottled water, aquarium water among others.
It is powered by two LR44 batteries which are replaceable. Mi TDS water tester switches off itself after two minutes of inactivity. It is made up of anti-rust and anti-corrosion materials. Xiaomi has set a target of minimum 5000 units.
Xiaomi listed in the Fortune 500 list
Xiaomi, recently announced that it was listed in the Fortune 500 list. The company reached RMB10,000 million (approx. US$1,453.72 million) threshold in sales revenue in 2012, and RMB100,000 million (approx. US$14,537.21 million) in 2017.
