The company has introduced Galaxy Watch Active, Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Buds, as its new wearable devices line-up

In a move that’s probably aimed towards competing with Apple’s heart rate sensor, Samsung has said that its latest Galaxy Watch Active features blood pressure tracking. The company has also announced Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Buds as smart wearables.

Samsung’s official statement read: “For everyone from life balance seekers to those who are looking for extra motivation, Samsung wearables make pursuing wellness goals more convenient, more stylish and more fun.”

“Consumers are increasingly putting their overall well-being at the center of their lifestyle decisions, and they’re looking for wearables that make it easier to get active and stay balanced every day,” said D.J. Koh, President and CEO of IT and mobile communications division, Samsung Electronics.

Galaxy Watch Active

Galaxy Watch Active, as per the company, can monitor exercise, sleep and stress patterns. Samsung says that its health-tracking features make Galaxy Watch Active a personal lifestyle coach. Galaxy Watch Active is compatible with Android and iOS.

New to the Galaxy wearable line, Galaxy Watch Active can monitor blood pressure. Users will have to download My BP Lab. Samsung claims that the app has been developed jointly with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). It also features a stress tracker.

Samsung’s official statement read: “Galaxy Watch Active keeps up with you by auto-detecting when you run, bike, row, use the elliptical trainer, or start a dynamic workout. You can manually engage in more than 39 activities, set daily goals and monitor your progress.”

Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Fit-e

Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Fit-e, as per the company, automatically start tracking activities including walking, running, biking, rowing and hopping on an elliptical trainer. Both devices are water resistant up to 50-meters depth.

Samsung stated: “Receive alerts and messages or check the widget which includes information synced straight from your smartphone — like alarm, calendar or weather — without ever needing to touch your phone. When you travel to a new time zone, your Galaxy Fit will also automatically display a dual-clock watch face to make it easier to manage your schedule.”

Galaxy Buds

The brand has also introduced Galaxy Buds aka wireless earphones. Samsung claims that the adaptive dual microphone uses one inner microphone and one outer microphone in each earbud.

Samsung’s official statement read, “Galaxy Buds keep up with you all day, with up to six hours of Bluetooth streaming, and up to five hours of calls. Plus, their compact case holds a charge for up to seven hours, and gives the Galaxy Buds 1.7 hours on a 15-minute quick charge. With wireless charging and device-to-device power sharing, you can also get a quick charging boost on the go from Galaxy S10 which is the latest Samsung smartphone.”
