Samsung Forays into Affordable Smart Wearables Segment in India

Samsung’s most affordable smart wearable Galaxy Fit E

Samsung India has launched new range of Galaxy wearables in the country. The company has launched Galaxy Fit, Galaxy Watch Active and Galaxy Fit E here. Interestingly, Galaxy Feature E, priced at Rs 2,590, is the most affordable smart wearable ever launched by the brand.

“The Galaxy Fit and Fit e give users a first time access to the rich ecosystem of Samsung Health with never before features like 90+ activity trackers. Our approach to the wearable experience, driven always by the principle of meaningful innovations, entails not just brilliant hardware but a path of progress for the user through newer and exciting experiences that keeps his journey engaging and interesting,” said Aditya Babbar, director, Mobile Business, Samsung India.

It is to be noted here that Xiaomi, with its range of smart wearables, is counted among the market leaders in India. Xiaomi is currently retailing Mi Band 3 at at price of Rs 1,999 in the country. Similarly, Huawei, another China-based consumer electronics company, is also selling a wearable band in prices below Rs 2,000.

Blood pressure monitoring

Galaxy-Watch

New to the Galaxy wearable line, Galaxy Watch Active puts smarter blood pressure tracking on user’s wrist. Samsung’s official statement read, “Download My BP Lab, the research app jointly developed with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), directly to Galaxy Watch Active to monitor blood pressure and keep better track of your physical health every day. The app is currently collecting and analyzing the data for more accurate tracking and once established, will give accurate results for BP monitoring.”

It is to be noted here that Apple was one of the first companies to offer blood pressure monitoring in its smartwatches. Samsung also said that it has designed this smartwatch for fashion-forward consumers.

90+ activity trackers

Made for all types of fitness enthusiasts, from casual runners to athletes, Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Fit e, as per Samsung, support active lifestyles. Samsung’s official statement read, “The slim and fashionable Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Fit e enable easy and intuitive tracking to help you reach your fitness goals. Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Fit e automatically start tracking your activity when you walk, run, bike, row, hop on the elliptical trainer or start a general dynamic workout. You can also access from a rich tracker library of more than 90 different activities in the Samsung Health app on your smartphone, and Galaxy Fit/Galaxy Fit e will automatically start to track your chosen workout.”

It continued, “Plus, with enhanced sleep analysis and smart stress management, you can monitor your well being at any time of the day. Both bands feature continuous heart rate monitoring, which is considered the best standard for activity tracking in wearables and ensures clear and accurate activity results to the user.”

Samsung is retailing the Galaxy Watch Active at a price of Rs 19,990. The Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Fit e are priced at Rs 9,990 and Rs 2,590 respectively.
