Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 8 in India. The company will sell the phone at a price of Rs 7,999 through eCommerce channel Flipkart and the company’s website. Xiaomi is scheduled to put the phone on sale from 12th October. Xiaomi is selling the newly launched phone in three colours -ruby red, sapphire blue and onyx black.
Xiaomi says that the Redmi 8 will be available in two variants. One comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage and the other comes with 4GB RAM variant with 64GB storage. This variant will be sold by the company for Rs 8,999. The company has also announced that the first five million units of the 4GB kind will be available at a discounted price of Rs 7999.
Xiaomi sold 3.8 million smartphones during the festive sale
Xiaomi had claimed that it had sold around 3.8 million smartphones during the festive sale on Flipkart, Amazon and its own website. It also said that the most popular phone sold during the sale were Redmi Note 7 Series, Redmi 7 and Redmi 7A.
The Redmi 8 comes with a 15.79 cm (6.22-inch) HD+ display according to the company. The phone is equipped with octa-core Snapdragon 439 SoC. The phone also comes with P2i coating making it splash proof.
Selfie camera is AI enabled
The phone has a waterdrop notch that has an 8MP selfie shooter. The selfie camera is AI enabled and supports portrait mode and face unlock feature. Another feature that Xiaomi claims this phone has is Google lens integration that will let the user translate between 104 languages.
On the rear side, the phone comes with a 12MP main shooter Sony IMX363 sensor paired with a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The phone also has a fingerprint sensor in it. It is equipped with a 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging and USB Type-C port. Xiaomi is also including a 10W charger with the phone.
