Redmi May Launch These 5 Smartphones to Stay on Top in 2019

These five phones are rumored to be the first ones likely to be launched under the independent Redmi banner in India. Xiaomi may separate Mi and Redmi as two separate brands

Xiaomi, which had recently claimed of selling more than one crore units of Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphones in India, is on a roll in the country. The brand, after launching Redmi Note 6 Pro, had also announced price cuts for Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphone.

Several reports had claimed Xiaomi to be one of the best-selling smartphone brands in the country. But with entry of more Chinese players the way ahead will not be a walk in the park for the brand.

Competition from other smartphone brands

The competition in the Indian smartphone market is getting intense with each passing day. New players including the likes of Realme and Infinix are launching smartphones in the budget category that are drawing a lot of attention from the users. In fact, a recent report by Counterpoint Research said that Realme had a record festive performance for any new brand ever in India.

Tarun Pathak, associate director, Counterpoint Research had said, “The newly launched online only smartphone brand, Realme had a record festive performance for any new brand ever in India. Realme immediately captured 9 per cent share jumping to the third spot in overall sales volume performance and also became the second largest in online segment with 18 per cent share.”

However, Xiaomi is known for launching smartphones at affordable prices. We had also reported that the brand may also be separating into two different verticals as Redmi and Mi.

Here is a list of five smartphones that Xiaomi may be launched under the Redmi brand in India to maintain its leadership in the below 20,000 smartphone segment.

Redmi Pro 2

Redmi Pro 2 may be the first smartphone to launch under the independent banner of Redmi brand in India. The smartphone may feature a class leading Sony IMX 586 48 MP camera sensor and Snapdragon 675 chipset. It is also believed that the smartphone will also feature a speculated punch-hole display.

In fact, Xiaomi’s India MD Manu Kumar Jain, had recently tweeted a photo captured from a smartphone saying, “We’re all super excited for the 3rd High 5 announcement tomorrow. The clue is in this Super Selfie. Any guesses? Xiaomi, always believe that something wonderful is about to happen!”

The launch of Redmi Pro 2 may just be around the corner. Xiaomi team has also revealed the new Redmi logo today.

Redmi 7

Another smartphone that the brand may be launching in India in 2019 is the Redmi 7. It is believed that Redmi 7 will include class-leading upgrades over Redmi 6. The official images have already revealed a dual rear camera setup placed vertically on top left edge. The phone is also rumored to sport a 6.3-inch water drop notch display and a 3900 mAh battery.

Redmi Note 7

Redmi Note 7 also makes it to the list of rumored smartphones that the brand may launch in late 2019. The brand may launch this smartphone powered by a bigger battery than the Redmi 7. As compared to Snapdragon 660 chipset that will power the Redmi 7, the Redmi Note 7 may come equipped with a more powerful chipset.

Redmi Note 7 Pro

Another Redmi 7 variant from the stables of Redmi, the Note 7 Pro may also be launched in the country during the last four months of 2019. Several reports that had claimed to own the leaked images of Redmi Note 7 Pro were found to be fake.

The smartphone may sport a water drop styled notch, dual cameras and a fingerprint sensor as well. It is rumored that the brand might launch Mi Play as Redmi 7 Pro in India.

Redmi Go

Xiaomi might also launch an Android Go smartphone in 2019. Being called Redmi Go, the specs and images of the upcoming Xiaomi Android Go have already got leaked on the internet.

Redmi Android Go smartphone will feature a 18:9 widescreen display, 1GB RAM, 8GB in-built storage, dual SIM support and a MediaTek processor. Redmi might launch this smartphone as a budget offering in India.
