Samsung’s 2018 performance
As per industry experts, Samsung’s flagship devices – Galaxy S9, S9+, and Galaxy Note9 – became bestsellers this year, while Galaxy ‘J’ series continues to rule the mid-price segment.
Earlier this month, the company announced new colour editions of its flagships – Galaxy Note9 in limited-edition Alpine White and Galaxy S9+ in a dual tone radiant Polaris Blue colour.
“Both Galaxy Note9 and S9+ have witnessed overwhelming response from consumers. Keeping that in mind, we are extremely delighted to launch these new colours,” Aditya Babbar, General Manager, Mobile Business, Samsung India, had said during the launch.
Samsung created record this year by inaugurating the world’s largest mobile factory in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India.
With this new facility, Samsung aims to double its current capacity for mobile phones in Noida from 68 million units a year to 120 million units a year, in a phase-wise expansion that will be completed by 2020.
This year, Samsung India also launched its ‘Make for the World’ initiative, whereby it is targeting to export mobile handsets produced in India to overseas markets.
Samsung has been manufacturing mobile phones in India since 2007. It is considered to be the only brand that is truly made in India.
