GFX 50R is the world’s smallest and most affordable medium format mirrorless camera, claims Fujifilm. The brand also introduces two new XF lenses in the country
Fujifilm India has announced the launch of its rangefinder-style GFX 50R medium format mirror-less camera in India. Claimed to be more compact and lightweight than Fujifilm GFX 50S, the GFX 50R is specially developed for field photographers who specialize in weddings, portraits and street photography, according to the brand.
This latest mirrorless camera from Fujifilm features ‘Fujifilm G Format’ (medium format, 43.8×32.9mm) image sensor, which is approx. 1.7 times the size of the commonly used full frame 35mm image sensor. The brand has priced GFX 50R at Rs 3,69,999 (Body Only) in the country.
An official statement released by Fujifilm reads, “FUJIFILM added the new “GFX 50R” to the lineup which is also the world’s smallest and most affordable medium format mirror-less camera. GFX 50R is also the first camera in the GFX system to feature Bluetooth compatibility.”
Fujifilm GFX 50R camera features
The GFX 50R is approximately 145 gram lighter than the GFX 50S (weighing 920 gram with EVF). The camera body is 66.4 mm thick, 25.0 mm thinner than the GFX 50S. The GFX 50R is equipped with the 0.77x 3.69M-dot organic EL electronic viewfinder (EVF). It features the X-Processor Pro image processing engine.
Fujifilm’s latest camera in India is equipped with a focus lever to allow quick adjustment of the focus point. The company claims that the GFX 50R is equipped with the ‘focus lever’ to allow quick adjustment of the focus point.
This is the first model in the GFX system to support the Bluetooth low energy technology. Captured images can be transferred easily and quickly to smartphones and tablet devices paired with the camera via the Fujifilm Camera Remote app.
Two new XF lenses also launched
Along with the camera, Fujifilm has also added two new XF lenses namely ‘XF 8-16 mm f/2.8 R LM WR Lens’ and ‘XF 200 mm f/2 OIS WR Lens’ to the lens lineup for its X Series range of mirrorless cameras. The XF 8-16 mm f/2.8 R LM WR is a 12-24 mm-equivalent lens featuring a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture for consistent performance throughout the zoom range.
The XF 8-16 mm f/2.8 R LM WR is available at Rs 1,59,999, while the XF 200 mm f/2 OIS WR Lens is priced at Rs 4,79,999 in India.
