- Skyworth is also planning to make lithium-ion batteries at the proposed facility
Hong Kong based Skyworth has announced that it will be investing $100 million on building a new manufacturing facility near Hyderabad, Telangana. The company will start manufacturing different white goods at this proposed facility in a phased manner.
“India is very strategic market under Skyworth global expansion plan and it is noteworthy that quality, decision and latest technology AIOT products of Skyworth and Metz are well received by Indian consumers. Skyworth is committed to Indian markets and would continue to make substantial investments in India market in a phased manner,” noted Wang Zenjun, EVP (executive vice president), Skyworth.
Facility to be named Radiant Appliances
The company informed that this manufacturing facility will be named Radiant Appliances. It will be sperad across 50 acres, and will be used to manufacture different white goods.
Apart from manufacturing air conditioners, LED TVs, refrigerators and washing machines, Skyworth will also be using this facility to manufacture lithium batteries for electric vehicles.
“Skyworth is highly encouraged by the electronics manufacturing industry supportive policies of Telangana government. Besides high quality manufacturing skills, scale of economy through very efficient supply chain, Skyworth will be bringing the futuristic products to Indian consumers. Along with up-scaling of the skills of the local people, Skyworth will undertake socially responsible initiatives,” Lai Weide, board chairman, Skyworth Group.
This move by Skyworth, may also generate around five thousand jobs in India. K. T. Rama Rao, Minister for IT and Urban Development in Hyderabad ensured support to Skyworth for its upcoming facility.
