LG Electronics sells mosquito-repelling TV in India

South Korea-based appliances and consumer electronics giant, LG Electronics Inc has started selling a TV with mosquitoes repelling feature.

According to the company, the “Mosquito Away Technology” uses ultrasonic waves that are inaudible to humans but cause mosquitoes to fly away.

It was released in the country on Thursday.

As per the company, The same technology is being used by LG in air conditioners and washing machines.

The technology, which also functions when the TV is switched off, is available in two models, priced at 26,500 rupees and 47,500 rupees.

By launching this product, the company is eyeing at lower-income consumers living in conditions that would make them vulnerable to mosquitoes.

The company is planning to launch the product in countries like Philippines and Sri Lanka by next month.
