LG First Company to Offer Nvidia G-Sync Support on OLED TVs

LG Electronics focus on gamers will take a new shape as the company starts rolling out support for Nvidia G-Sync via a firmware update starting this week. The company, had earlier shared that users can play compatible titles in dynamic HDR10 or Dolby Vision (at up to 120 frames per second for Full HD content), taking advantage of HDMI 2.1 specifications such as auto low latency mode (ALLM), enhanced audio return channel (eARC), and variable refresh rate (VRR).

“As the first TVs to offer Nvidia G-Sync compatible support in the industry, LG is once again demonstrating its commitment to delivering the most advanced gaming experience,” said Sam Kim, senior vice president of the TV product planning division of LG’s Home Entertainment Company.

First in the TV industry

The Korea-based consumer electronics company has become the first in the world to start offering this support for OLED TVs. It is to be noted here that the size of gaming industry is increasing in the world and gamers opting to play on big screens is also on an incline.

A recent report by Research and Markets informed that the size of the global video gaming industry was US$ 96 billion in 2018. Global eSports industry is growing at the rate of 30 per cent YoY and is predicted to be a billion-dollar industry by 2019 according to the same report.

Collaboration with Nvidia

Nvidia G-Sync compatibility, as per LG, will be available on it’s 2019 OLED TV models E9 (65 and 55 inches), C9 (77, 65 and 55 inches) as well as B9 (65 and 55 inches) and will arrive first to LG customers in parts of North America followed by markets in Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, etc. before the end of the year.

It is to be noted here that North America and Europe are two among the biggest gaming markets in the world. LG had announced its collaboration with Nvidia in September 2019.

Company’s official statement read, “With G-Sync Compatible support, LG’s acclaimed OLED TVs will deliver the smoothest, most immersive gaming experience without the flicker, tearing or stuttering common to most common displays. Gamers have long valued LG OLED TVs for their exceptional picture quality, low input lag and ultra-fast response time. The addition of G-Sync Compatible support allows gamers with GeForce RTX 20-Series or GTX 16-Series GPUs to fully enjoy extreme responsiveness and optimized visuals on LG’s large OLED TVs from 55 inches up to an immersive 77 inches.”
