Samsung Signs Exclusive Deal With Dowoo Insys

According to a report by Korean news site ETNews, Samsung Display has signed an exclusive deal with Dowoo Insys, a Korean manufacturer of ultra-thin glass (UTG) panels. Dowoo Insys will become the exclusive supplier of glass for the screen component arm of the Korean electronics giant.

A new production facility in Vietnam

As per the report, Dowoo Insys makes UTG panels that are as thin as 100µm, and the technology could stretch as thin as 30µm. The company is reportedly considering a new production facility in Vietnam to complement its current South Korean plant.

The news daily highlighted that Dowoo Insys sees growth potential in the foldable display market from Samsung with new mobile form factors on the horizon, but also points to the viability of foldable displays in laptops, tablets, and other devices.

Recently, Samsung Venture Investment Corporation (SVIC), which has over USD 2.2 billion in assets under management, has invested $ 8.5 million in four different startups in India.

Samsung had also partnered with OS Labs to launch the new Galaxy Store, powered by Indus App Bazaar, which brings app discovery and downloads experience to consumers in 12 local Indian languages in addition to English and offers personalized app recommendations without mandatory sign in.
