Sony Visual Products, which operates under the umbrella of Sony’s TV business, and Sony Video and Sound Products Inc, which operates under Sony’s Video and Sound businesses, will merge to form Sony Home Entertainment and Sound Products Inc., as per an official statement released by the brand. The new company will start operations from April 1, 2019.
Brand’s official statement read, “This new company aims to establish operations that can respond quickly and flexibly to changes in the business climate while pushing forward its high value-added strategies for the Audio and Visual domain, creating new customer value for the future, and accelerating growth over the mid- to long-term.”
Focus on home entertainment and sound products
The new company that will operate under the mega umbrella of Sony will be responsible for designing, developing and manufacturing of TVs, video and sound products and associated peripherals. It will also oversee all related and subsidiary businesses.
Ichiro Takagi has been appointed as the representative director and president of the newly announced vertical of Sony. Yoshinori Matsumoto, Yuichi Oshima and Naoya Horii have been appointed as directors of the new company. Yoshinori Matsumoto has been given an additional role as deputy president of Sony Home Entertainment and Sound Products vertical.
