Galaxy Fold Smartphone Ready For Launch Says Samsung

Consumer electronics heavy weight is all set to launch its first foldable smartphone in the world. The company through an official statement said that it has taken the time to fully evaluate the product design, make necessary improvements and run rigorous tests to validate the changes.

Interestingly, this foldable smartphone by Samsung was originally slated to be launched in the month of April 2019. The smartphone was first unveiled during a major event this year.

DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT and mobile communications division, Samsung Electronics had earlier said, “We created Galaxy Fold for those that want to experience what a premium foldable device can do, beyond the limitations of a traditional smartphone.”

Changes made in the Galaxy Fold Smartphone

The top protective layer of the Infinity Flex Display, as per Samsung, has been extended beyond the bezel, making it apparent that it is an integral part of the display structure and not meant to be removed. Galaxy Fold, as per the company now features additional reinforcements to better protect the device from external particles while maintaining its signature foldable experience.

Company’s official statement read, “The top and bottom of the hinge area have been strengthened with newly added protection caps. Additional metal layers underneath the Infinity Flex Display have been included to reinforce the protection of the display. The space between the hinge and body of Galaxy Fold has been reduced.”

It continued, “Along with these improvements, Samsung has also been continuously working to improve the overall Galaxy Fold user experience, including optimizing more apps and services for its unique foldable UX. Samsung is conducting final product tests to make Galaxy Fold available to consumers starting from September in select markets.”

Marques Brownlee (Twitter Handle @MKBHD), one of the most popular smartphone reviewers in the world, had earlier tweeted, “PSA: There’s a layer that appears to be a screen protector on the Galaxy Fold’s display. It’s not a screen protector. Do not remove it. I got this far peeling it off before the display spazzed and blacked out. Started over with a replacement.”
