Avneet Singh Marwah, Director and CEO, Super Plastronics Pvt Ltd, in a conversation with EFY Group in 2019, had stated that he was working on introducing premium TVs at affordable costs in India. He had said, “We have recently launched 43, 50 and 55-inch 4K TVs keeping upcoming Diwali season in mind. SPPL wants Indian consumers to experience big screen TVs in nominal prices. The demand for big screen TVs in India have already picked up and we are sure that with our range of economically priced 4K big screen Kodak TVs, this demand will get a major boost.”
According to 6Wresearch, India Smart TV market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 30.2 per cent by 2024. Surge in number of households with easy accessibility to internet, booming e-commerce industry and rise in purchasing power is driving the adoption of smart TVs in the country.
SPPL owns brands license of Thomson TVs as well
While the company has been retailing Kodak TVs in India for a few years now, it is also the brand license owner of Thomson TVs. As a matter of fact, SPPL had launched premium TVs in India during June 2019. These TVs are based on updates by official Android from Google.
“We are honored to be part of Android tv journey in India, we need to thank Google for all the support. We are proud to announce Thomson 65 inches Android tv, which will be India’s first 4K official Android that echoes the ‘Make in India’ initiative,” Avneet Singh Marwah had added at that time.
