According to some industry experts, thrust on manufacturing high-end iPhones locally along with the first-ever flagship retail store would give Apple a booster in the price-sensitive smartphone market in 2020.

Recovered after a sharp decline in 2018

Tarun Pathak, Associate Director at Counterpoint Research, told IANS that Apple recovered in the Indian market in 2019 after a sharp decline in 2018. 2020 is going to be important, as this is the year when Apple has the strongest-ever portfolio — iPhone XR, iPhone 11 and iPhone 8 — that will be relevant for the growing Indian market. 2020 is likely to be a strong year for Apple in India.

He further stated that there is a lot of speculation about iPhone SE2 coming this year. Recently, famed Bernstein analyst Toni Sacconaghi also noted that Apple sold $6 billion worth of AirPods in 2019 and is all set to rake in $15 billion in revenue from the true wireless hearables in 2020.

As per a report by LetsGoDigital, Apple is likely to ship a high-end 2020 iPhone model with Touch ID embedded in the display. The report also mentioned that Apple’s suppliers are finalising the development of a full-screen display for this year’s iPhone model.

It is to be noted here that Apple had earlier applied for three design patents in Japan for a smartphone without any display notch.
