According to a report by Bloomberg, people familiar with Apple’s production plans have informed shipments of Apple’s AirPods wireless earphones are expected to double to 60 million units this year. This has been driven in part by “much higher” than expected demand for the pricier AirPods Pro model unveiled last month.

True wireless a preferred choice
Counterpoint analyst Pavel Naiya stated that Apple also edged rivals because true wireless as a category is the preferred choice over wireless earphones, due to factors such as better sound quality, portability, and ease of use.
“The one-tap setup experience, incredible sound, and iconic design have made them a beloved Apple product, and with AirPods Pro, we’re taking the magic even further,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
AirPods Pro features the same battery life as AirPods with up to five hours of listening time. In the Active Noise Cancellation mode, it can deliver up to four and a half hours of listening time and up to three and a half hours of talk time on a single charge.
They can be paired to all the devices signed into a user’s iCloud account, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV and iPod touch. Each earbud comes with three different sizes of soft, flexible silicone ear tips. It uses a vent system to equalise pressure and are sweat and water-resistant.
AirPods Pro are available for Rs 24,900 through Apple Authorised Resellers. It will require Apple devices running iOS 13.2 or later, iPadOS 13.2 or later, watchOS 6.1 or later, tvOS 13.2 or later, or macOS Catalina 10.15.1 or later. AirPods with regular Charging Case are priced at Rs 14,900 and AirPods with wireless charging cases are available at Rs 18,900.
