According to a report by ET, the mobile retail chain Big C Mobiles is all set to expand its network and product offerings. M Balu Chowdary, chairman and managing director of the company informed the news daily that the company plans to overcome the slowdown and margin pressure in the mobile handsets market emanating from deep discount sales on e-commerce platforms.
He further stated that the Rs 1,010 crore company in revenues last fiscal will now spread its product offerings to include IoT and connected devices, including smart televisions and air purifiers.
Emerge as an Omni-channel firm
He also added that the 17-year old Hyderabad headquartered retailer is also looking to emerge as an Omni-channel firm by offering sales and services through the online platform, promising a 90-minute door delivery of products.
The company plans to add 75 stores, mostly large-format stores by December next year, apart from foraying into Karnataka, involving around Rs 35 crore of investment.
Chowdary told the news daily that they are eying a turnover of Rs 1,500 crore by March 2021 where they hope the online sales and smart devices to contribute Rs 200 crore each.
