BSH Home Appliances Group has announced the sale of their one millionth washing machine unit in India. The company said that it has seen a huge surge coming from the metro cities in South India. BSH shared that smaller towns are now openly accepting front load as a washing machine format.
Speaking on the company’s latest sales milestone, Neeraj Bahl, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, BSH India said, “India is an important market for BSH globally. This breakthrough helps us to constantly work towards offering superior quality products to our consumers, who are always our first priority. In line with our commitment to the Indian market, BSH has continuously innovated, with unique features localized for Indian customers as well as developed global first product extensions. We would like to thank our valuable customers for their trust and support leading us to achieve this milestone within such a short span of time.”
The company had entered the Indian market in the year 2010. BSH had appointed a new MD for its India team in August 2019. BSH’s previous MD, Gunjan Srivastava, was promoted to head BSH for Asia-Pacific region in the same month.

Started off by importing Siemens products
The company started off by importing Siemens products into the country. Soon after that, they launched Bosch appliances across categories and targeted the mass premium market. With Bosch, they entered the washing machines, refrigerators and dishwashers categories as well as developed India-specific appliances.
Company’s official statement read, “All Bosch and Siemens washing machines introduced from the Chennai factory are five Star rated. Backed by best-in-class German Engineering and innovations for the Indian markets, BSH develops products to cater to Indian homes.”
Five lakh washing machines production in April 2018
Year 2014 represented BSH’s first milestone in India with the launch of a front load washing machine in the seven kg category, manufactured from its facility in Chennai. In April 2018, the plant completed the production of five lakh washing machines and last year, Bosch launched top loaders washing machines in India as its first market, prior to its global launch.
