Canon Takes a Step Towards Healthy Lifestyle

Canon India launched an initiative ‘Canon Impact League’, under its umbrella theme of ‘Canon India Involve’. The initiative was introduced to drive more concerted efforts towards ensuring community development through extensive employee engagement.

As part of the initiative, a fundraising walkathon was organized by Canon India for its employees, wherein they were invited to walk for a cause and were also motivated to lead healthy lives.

‘Canon India Involve-Family’

“Going forward, we intend to further strengthen the vibrant culture of social responsibility that already exists in the organization by involving our families in our CSR initiatives, calling it ‘Canon India Involve-Family’,” said Kazutada Kobayashi, president & CEO of Canon India.

“Through our ‘Adopt a Village’ initiative, we have been successful so far in contributing towards a sustainable future for the community, with the support of our stakeholders,” said Gary Lee, vice president & CFO, Canon India.

“Through our new ‘Canon Impact League’ initiative, we wanted employees to take a positive step towards a healthy and fit lifestyle, along with contributing to the overall development of the villages,” said Shikha Rai, vice president, HR, Canon India.

The walkathon raised 2.9 million as the employees covered 113,000 kilometers over the course of 45 days. The sum collected was invested for developmental activities in Maheshwari Village, including setting up of rainwater harvesting system & groundwater recharge project, along with the installation of a new eye care machine at the Vision Center and revamping of the toilet in the school premises.
