Huawei recently started expansion in India
The group had recently entered a strategic partnership with Micromax Informatics Ltd. in India. This move, as per Huawei, was aimed towards gaining a stronger foothold in the Indian consumer electronics market.
Tornado Pan, had said “Since our very entry into the Indian market, the brand has been witnessing overwhelming response from all section of consumers. With an aim to be present where our consumers are, we plan to focus on a robust offline distribution network catering to the needs of consumers in urban as well as the rural regions of the country and to make them experience the innovative technology that has won the hearts of customers’ world over.”
Interestingly Micromax has seen a sharp decline in its smartphone sales in India over the last few years. It is also to be noted here that Micromax had a few China-based companies as OEMs in the past.
59 million devices in Q1 2019
Huawei had shipped more than 59 million devices during Q1 2019. As a matter of fact, the company went through trade restrictions from the USA Government during recently. Google, the parent company of Android OS, is also headquartered in America.
It is to be noted here that the company operates two smartphone brands in the world. Dubbed Huawei and Honor, these smartphone brands are retailed almost in all of Huawei’s markets. Huawei was among the top five premium smartphone brands in the world in 2018. As opposed to eight per cent share in the premium smartphone segment in 2017, it held 10 per cent share in the same segment in 2018.
