Major Smartphone Manufacturers Shutting Plants in India Due To Coronavirus Pandemic

Smartphone manufacturers such as Oppo, Vivo, Realme, Apple, Samsung, LG, Motorola, Xiaomi are shutting down their manufacturing plants in India due to Coronavirus lockdown. Samsung said that it is shutting down its largest manufacturing facility in Noida. It also said that it has asked people in operations and R&D to work from home until further notice

A person familiar with the matter told the Economic Times that Oppo and Vivo have revealed that they will shut down their manufacturing plants. They have stopped production at their respective Greater Noida factories.

Foxconn, Wistron, Realme, Xiaomi shut shop

As per a report by Bloomberg, Apple’s manufacturing partners, Foxconn and Wistron, have temporarily closed their production facilities in India. The report also said that Foxconn is suspending operations till 14th April.

Realme has said that it will close its ‘Make in India’ facility during the lockdown period too. It has also postponed the Realme Narzo launch event due to the lockdown.

Xiaomi has announced that it is shutting down its Bengaluru plant. It said that it is closing its corporate office, warehouse, service centre, and Mi Home. LG and Motorola are also closing their manufacturing plants.
