Offline Expansion Played a Big Role in Sustaining Leadership: Xiaomi

According to a report by IDC, Xiaomi has retained the number one spot in the smart TV segment in India with a market share of 33 per cent in Q3 2019.

Raghu Reddy, Head – Categories and Online Sales, Xiaomi India told ET that with their content-first approach, they focus on consistent experience across our entire MiTV lineup by making sure that all our TVs are upgraded with the same PatchWall experience. Additionally, all their TVs are customised for the Indian consumer with features like Data Saver, Vivid Picture Engine, linear TV integration and more.

He further stated that along with bringing high-quality smart TVs, they continue to focus on manufacturing in India. Their offline expansion has also played a big role in sustaining their leadership.

Sequential growth at 46 per cent

MiTV has recorded a sequential growth at 46 per cent and yearly growth at 69 per cent with the third quarter of 2019 being the sixth consecutive quarter of its market leadership, Xiaomi said in a statement.

The report named ‘IDC worldwide quarterly smart home device tracker, Q3 2019’, mentioned that the Chinese maker is followed by Samsung at a market share of 14 per cent with LG placed third at a share of 13 per cent. Sony and TCL follow with 10 per cent and 9 per cent share respectively.

The report highlighted that Xiaomi’s TV segment share is 19 per cent greater than that of Samsung, 20 per cent than LG, Sony and 24 per cent than TCL.
