Xiaomi has announced the launch of its premium Mi Mural TV in its home country China. The company has priced at 6,999 Yuans (Approx Rs 72,000). This TV will now be competing against the likes of LG Wallpaper TV in consumer electronics market.

The biggest highlight of the TV is the use of custom Samsung display units. It it to be noted here that Mi Mural TV can stick to the wall like a painting.

Gizmochina reported, “LG’s Wallpaper TV seems to have a new competitor in town as Xiaomi has just unveiled its premium Mi Mural TV with a beautiful 65-inch custom Samsung display panel.”

Definitely not friends in the smartphone market

It is to be noted here that the both Xiaomi and Samsung are now counted amongst the top smartphone brands in India. A report by IDC had previously said that Xiaomi has successfully lead the smartphone market in India for six consecutive quarters.

IDC’s report read, “Xiaomi continued to dominate, growing YoY by 28.6 per cent in 2018Q4 on back of its affordable Redmi series devices aided by high decibel marketing campaigns and offline expansion with its Mi preferred partner program and opening of rural stores. Xiaomi’s Redmi 5A and Redmi Note 5/Pro series emerged as the fastest selling devices of 2018 across brands driving 10 million shipments each in the entire year. The brand continued to lead in the online channel with a share of 47.2 per cent, climbing to the second slot in the offline channel by surpassing Vivo in 2018Q4.”

It continued, “Samsung remained in the second position, however with a YoY decline of 7.9 per cent in 2018Q4. The newly-launched Galaxy A7 (2018) with triple cameras picked up demand in 2018Q4 followed by its Android Go model, the Galaxy J2 Core. The brand is expected to make a comeback with its new online exclusive “M series” to be made available in February’19 via flash sales.”

Xiaomi is also present in TV market in India

The China-based company, that had recently picked up some stakes in TCL, has been expanding its presence in the TV market in India as well. Last year it had claimed to ship one million TVs in India in under nine months time. The company had also announced a new manufacturing plant in the country as well.

Interestingly, Samsung is one of the most experienced companies to sell smart TVs in India as well. Mi, since its entry into the Indian TV market, has only concentrated on selling smart TVs. Infact, Mi has not even launched a non-smart TV in India till now.
