PVR Cinemas, counted one among the largest film exhibition companies in India, has inked a long-term alliance with Cinionic, a Barco cinema joint venture. Barco will be outfitting 150 PVR screens with its 2k, 4k and flagship Laser projectors. The fitment will be carried out in the next 12 to 18 months.
Mr. Gautam Dutta, CEO of PVR Cinemas, said, “Our industry is facing stiffer competition, so we need to offer unique entertainment experiences that are larger than life.”
The announcement was made at the CineAsia trade show being held at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre from December 10 to 13, 2018.
Cinionic holds largest laser portfolio
Cinionic leads the industry with largest laser portfolio. The brand claims to have perfect projectors for every cinema screen. It’s laser projector portfolio includes 24 cinema projectors, 18 laser and 6 lamp projectors.
An official statement released by the company read, “This enables exhibitors to ideally match their projector fleet to a variety of theaters. The Barco family includes a wide array of models, from Flagship Laser projectors ideally suited for premium format screens to efficient Smart Laser projectors and laser-as-a-service solutions, in a wide range of lumens to facilitate outfitting an entire multiplex.”
Dutta said, “The Barco cinema projectors deliver excellent performance and high brightness necessary to power these top-notch movie showings at a very attractive TCO.”
Formed in 2018, Cinionic is a joint venture between Barco, Appotronics, and China Film Co. It has offices in the United States, Belgium, Hong Kong and Mexico.
