LG will be showcasing three smartphones at MWC 2019. These smartphone models include Q60, LG K50 and LG K40
It seems as if LG has decided to introduce smartphones in the below Rs 15,000 category in India. Samsung, another Korea based smartphone maker had launched its M-Series smartphones in India recently.
Though the exact pricing of the new LG smartphones is not revealed yet, their specs and features sound like LG is keen to introduce these in the affordable smartphone category . Moreover, LG’s official statement said that these new smartphones are consumer friendly.
It read, “At MWC 2019, LG Electronics (LG) will reveal three new consumer-friendly smartphones designed for those seeking advanced mobile devices without compromising usability. The LG Q60, LG K50 and LG K40 boast premium features, advanced technologies and stylish design, all without breaking the bank.”
Samsung’s M-Series already in the market
The below Rs 15,000 smartphone vertical is also known as the mass segment in India. The growing importance of this category can be estimated from the fact that Samsung had recently launched M-Series smartphones in the category.
Recent reports by various market research companies had said that China-based Xiaomi was leading the category in terms of shipments in India. Samsung has also scheduled launch of M 30 smartphone for the last week of February. It is anticipated that the brand will introduce it for prices starting below Rs 15,000 in the country.
Xiaomi, has also announced its plans of launching a 48 MP camera phone in India in February. Several media reports have claimed that the company will launch it at prices below Rs 15,000. Manu Kumar Jain, MD, Xiaomi India, had earlier tweeted that the new smartphone will be a game changer. The brand has been famous for launching smartphones at very competitive prices.
LG Q60, LG K50 and LG K40 features
LG Q60 sports three rear cameras: 16MP with phase detection auto focus (PDAF), 5MP with Super Wide Angle and a 2MP shooter with depth sensor that captures a sharp image of the subject while leaving the background blurred. LG’s official statement read, “With four unique lenses at their disposal, Q60 owners can take perfect shots every time, no matter how challenging the subject or the environment.”
Both the LG Q60 and LG K50 are powered by a 3500 mAh battery. At 3000 mAh, the battery in the smaller LG K40 is more than robust enough to provide a full day of use between charges.
