Huawei had first surpassed Apple during second quarter of the current financial year. It’s smartphone shipments grew from 3 million in 2010 to 200 million in 2018
The brand had launched Huawei Mate 20, P20 and some Nova series smartphones, during this year globally. Huawei is now planning to become the leader in the next wave of the smartphone revolution.
Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group in a statement said, “Looking to the future, Huawei’s consumer business will focus on the core concept of ‘consumer-centric’, and will dare to keep innovating, and make every effort to become a pioneer and leader in the next wave of the smartphone revolution.”
Huawei held 14.6 per cent share in smartphone shipments
Data released by International Data Corporation (IDC) shows that Huawei held 14.6 per cent share in global smartphone shipments during the third quarter of this year. It is to be noted here that Huawei managed to sell 50 million more smartphones in 2018 in comparison to what it had sold in 2017.
This is also the second time Huawei has supassed Apple in terms of smartphone shipments. It had first surpassed Apple during second quarter of the current financial year. Huawei’s smartphone shipments grew from 3 million in 2010 to 200 million in 2018.
Huawei P20 series shipments exceed 16 million units
Huawei also said that its P20 smartphone series registered 16 million unit shipments after global launch in March this year. It said that female users accounted for nearly half of these figures.
The shipment figures for Huawei Nova Series smartphones stood over 65 million units. Huawei Nova series smartphones are the mid-range devices offered by the brand in the market.
Recently launched Huawei Mate 20 series also managed to register five million unit shipments.
