Growth in organized retail and e-commerce industry coupled with rising consumer inclination towards sanitation devices are anticipated to aid the growth of the dishwashers market in India during the period from 2019 to 2023. A recent report by Techsci research further forecasts that the northern and western regions of India may witness the highest growth of dishwashers in the country.
The Techsci report read, “TechSci Research calculated the market size for India dishwasher market using a bottom-up approach, wherein manufacturers’ value & volume sales data for different types of dishwasher (Free-Standing Dishwashers and Built-In Dishwashers) was recorded and subsequently forecast for the future years.”
It added, “India dishwashers market stood at $ 30 million in 2017 and is projected to reach $ 45 million by 2023.”
Reasons behind growth
Changing lifestyle as a result of rising urbanisation and increasing disposable income in the country has been attributed as a reason that may fuel the increased use of dishwashers in India. According to some recent estimates released by the Government of India, the country’s per capita national income is set to grow at 11.1 per cent in the financial year 2018-19. The government had also said that this is set to be the highest in the last five years.
Increase in number of working women and nuclear families has been cited as another reason that may also give a boost to the value of dishwasher industry in the country. According to the 2001 India census, 9.98 crore households, out of 19.31 crore, were nuclear households. The share of nuclear households grew to 52.1 per cent according to the 2011 census which means 12.97 crore out of 24.88 crore households were nuclear in the country.
The Techsci report read, “Additionally, growth in organized retail end e-commerce industry coupled with rising consumer inclination towards sanitation devices are further anticipated to aid the growth of India dishwashers market during forecast period.”
Major players in the Indian dishwasher market
As per the report, IFB Industries Ltd, BSH Household Appliances Manufacturing Pvt Ltd, LG Electronics India Pvt Ltd and Samsung India Electronics Pvt Ltd are some major players in the Indian dishwasher market. AB Electrolux, Elica PB India Private Ltd, Kaff Appliances (India) Private Ltd, Miele India Pvt Ltd, Franke Faber India Ltd and Whirlpool India Ltd were also attributed as major players in the dishwasher industry in the country.
