China based smartphone maker OnePlus will be opening its new experience center at Connaught Place in Delhi on 13 December 2018. The brand that operates under the BBK umbrella, has taken aggressive marketing and advertising route to promote the opening of its new experience center in the capital of India. Ads announcing the opening of OnePlus’ new experience store can be heard on several radio stations in Delhi.
The brand has even roped in Punjabi singer Harrdy Sindhu for the opening of its newest experience center. A tweet posted through the official OnePlus India Twitter handle read, “Exciting news for our community in Delhi! Get a chance to win the OnePlus 6T McLaren Editon and interact with Harrdy Sandhu at the OnePlus Experience Store Opening in Delhi. This, along with special offers and merchandise for the community.”
As the tweet mentioned, OnePlus is also giving a chance to users for winning the latest OnePlus 6T McLaren Editon at the opening event. OnePlus currently has exclusive experience stores located in Bangalore and Chennai.
Taking the offline route
The opening of another experience center is a clear indicator of OnePlus’ new strategy to increase the brand’s presence in the offline space. Available exclusively on Amazon e-commerce portal in India, the online first brand has recently tied up with Croma retail stores and Reliance Digital stores as well. The new experience center as well as the decision to sell OnePlus smartphones through Croma and Reliance Digital can further help in boosting smartphone sales for the brand.
It is to be noted here that several appliances, consumer electronics and smartphone brands are taking the offline route for promoting their products. Xiaomi had recently announced opening of 500 Mi Stores spread across rural India, whereas Haier, an appliances and consumer electronics brand had also opened its experience store in Delhi.

OnePlus with its flagship offerings including the OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T dominates the value flagship smartphone category in India.
Counterpoint in one of its reports noted, “OnePlus surpassed Samsung to lead the premium smartphone segment for the first time ever for full quarter. This was due to strong sales of its flagship OnePlus 6 which was launched during the quarter.The brand is also capitalizing on strong word of mouth and leveraging social media effectively to reach out to its target user base.”
OnePlus Mclaren Edition 6T
Announced for a price for GBP 649 (Approx Rs 60,000) in UK, the OnePlus Mclaren Edition 6T, as the name suggests has been designed in collaboration with car racing team Mclaren. The smartphone that was unveiled globally yesterday is set to to be announced in India at an event in Mumbai today. Interestingly, Huawei, another China based smartphone brand had also collaborated with Porsche to design a Porsche edition smartphone recently.
The highlights of the OnePlus Mclaren Edition 6T smartphone include 10GB RAM and ‘Warp Charge 30’. The company claims that 20 minutes of charging through wrap charge can give the smartphone battery up to a day’s power. It also features a carbon fibre pattern on the back panel. Signature McLaren papaya orange colour can be seen placed on the bottom of the smartphone.
