As per the report, smartphone brands including Xiaomi, OnePlus, Google, Nokia, Asus and Realme are expected to witness growth in their sales next year
Research firm techARC has estimated that around 302 million mobile handsets will be sold in India during 2019. The quoted figures are the highest ever in a single year.
The research firm has accredited the forecast a result of robust growth in both smartphone as well as smart feature phone categories.
Faisal Kawoosa, founder and principal analyst, techARC, said in a statement,”There is a large replacement cycle due in 2019 for users who bought their first 4G smartphone between 2015-2017.”
Smartphones to equal smart feature phone sales
Researchers expect that a total of 302 million mobile handsets will be sold during 2019 in India. Out of these, 149 million will be smartphones and rest 153 million will be a mix of smart feature phones and feature phones. Feature phones, however, will be sold more than the smart feature phones.
This might also be the first time that smartphone sales will be approximately equal (just 4 million fewer) to the sales figures reported jointly by smart feature phones and normal feature phones .
Smartphone brands expected to grow
As per the report, smartphone brands including Xiaomi, OnePlus, Google, Nokia, Asus and Realme are expected to witness growth in their sales next year.
It said that Xiaomi is expected to continue its lead during 2019. However, it also expects that none of the home grown brands will show reversal in declining trends that were witnessed during 2018. Sales for smartphone brands like Samsung, Oppo, Vivo and Honor-Huawei are expected to remain flat and continue to show similar market performance as in 2018, it added.
