Realme Starts Retailing U1 Smartphone Via Offline Channel in India

The brand had recently announced its expansion plans for the offline sales channel. Realme plans to reach 100 Indian cities by March 2019

Realme has said that it has started retailing U1 smartphone model across 2500 stores located in 30 Indian cities. It is to be noted here that U1, like most of Realme’s smartphone models, was launched via online channel first. Realme U1 smartphone was originally launched in November last year.

Commenting on the expansion, Madhav Sheth, CEO, Realme India said, “Considering the rapidly growing customer demand towards Realme U1 we are making the device available at our offline stores. Initially, the device was available for sale exclusively in Amazon.in and saw a phenomenal response. The initiative is to fulfill our commitment to deliver the best consumer experience to our customers.”

Partnership with offline retailers

The brand had recently announced expansion in the offline sales channel. It had said that its smartphone models will available in 150 cities in 2019. Calling offline retailers as ‘Real Partners’, Realme plans to add 50 new cities to its offline sales channel every quarter.

Brand’s official statement read, “Realme started with 10 cities across the country in January 2019 and will add 50 cities every quarter. With the city expansion, the smartphone brand will establish 20,000 outlets throughout the country. The retail outlets will have all the models that the smartphone brand has launched.”

Interestingly, Realme has also signed a partnership deal with Reliance stores for offline sales of its products. Realme claims that its smartphones are also available at more than 130 cities across 1300+ Reliance Digital and My Jio stores.

Realme U1 smartphone is powered MediaTek Helio P70 processor. It comes with an AI 25MP front camera. The device was launched in two variants; 3 GB RAM + 32 GB ROM at Rs 11,999, and 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM at Rs 14,499.

Sheth, during announcement of Realme’s offline expansion plans had said, “Strengthening our commitment, we are expanding our footprints to meet the rapidly growing customer demands. With the new offline stores, we are extending our sales channels reaching out to our offline customers in every region. This is the extension of our sales strategy and ultimate target of ‘Realme for Every Indian.”
