China-based Xiaomi has announced Redmi Creator Academy (RCA) for aspiring content creators. RCA, as the company informed, is Xiaomi’s first series of virtual masterclasses aimed at providing the industry’s best learning practices to aspiring content creators.

“India has one of the world’s biggest and most vibrant content creator communities. Redmi has always stood strong as an enabler of the creator community. With so many different aspects that go into becoming a successful creator and the lack of a credible platform to share all the dos and don’ts, we feel this gap needs to be addressed,” Anuj Sharma, chief marketing officer, Xiaomi India commented.

Sharma added, “Redmi Creator Academy aims to change that by providing a platform for all the budding creators across various disciplines and thus enabling their creativity. We are extremely excited for the launch of the first series of RCA and hope that it helps millions of creators to achieve their dreams.”

The digital video content market, as per a report by Technavio, has the potential to grow by $41.54 billion during 2020-2024, and the market’s growth momentum will accelerate during the forecast period.

Content is becoming a must for smart TVs and smartphone brands.

With the penetration of smart TVs and smartphones increasing in the world, several smart TVs and smartphone brands have been tying up with content creators and content streaming apps. Netflix, a popular content streaming app, has around 1.2 million subscribers in India.

It is to be noted here that Netflix was able to successfully include three to four lakh subscribers in the country just by offering mobile-only plans. India, approximately, has a video streaming audience of more than 300 million. It is expected that the number will grow to approximately 550 million by 2023.

Virtual YouTube Video masterclasses

“All sessions start from Monday, sixth April 2020 across Redmi India’s YouTube channel and will be conducted daily throughout the week absolutely free of cost,” read Redmi’s official statement.

It continued, “One week of virtual masterclasses will be spread across the entire journey of building high-quality YouTube videos and all experts will cover all important aspects of creating content along with marketing it.”
