Video content services and consumer electronics companies
It is to be noted here that Apple had recently announced its entry into the video content subscription services and launched Apple TV+ app in many of its international markets. Similarly a lot of consumer electronics companies are announcing partnerships with various content providers including the likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime. Mi, in an interview given to ET, has said that it was also exploring the possibility of generating revenue through content services in India.
Interestingly, while a lot of consumer electronics companies and video content service providers are looking to collaborate with each other, Samsung has launched its own video standard category. HDR10+ (High Dynamic Range 10+), as per Samsung, is an open source-based next-generation video standard led by Samsung Electronics.
Strengthening the HDR10+ logo
Samsung Electronics has been collaborating with various companies such as movie studios and OTT operators since the formation of the HDR10+ LLC in August, 2017. An official statement released by the compnay said that in addition to Korea, Japan and the US, Samsung will continue to strengthen the HDR10+ logo and certification program partnership in other territories around the world.
