Nasaka is working on its first IoT embedded smart water purifier. Industry sources EFY Group spoke to revealed that the company is preparing to launch its first smart product next month. The brand has neither confirmed nor denied the developments.
“Nasaka’s upcoming smart water purifier is completely developed in India. The brand has started reaching out to its existing base of distributors and channel partners about the same,” revealed the sources on conditions of anonymity.
It is to be noted here that Nasaka is a brand owned and operated by the Okaya and Microtek Group. The brand retails water purifiers, air purifiers in b2b as well as b2c markets.
Smart consumer electronics market in India
The market for smart consumer electronics is on a rise in India. Several brands including the likes of Godrej Appliances and Orient Electric have recently launched IoT embedded smart products in the country. While Godrej forayed into the smart air coolers market at the beginning of this year, Orient Electric has also launched smart ceiling fans and air coolers in India.
It is also to be noted here that LG, a Korea-based consumer electronics giant, has also launched its first smart ceiling fan in the country last year. EFY Group was the first to report LG’s entry into the space.
The market for water purifiers in India, as per a report by Credence Research, is expected to expand at a CAGR of 14.5 per cent between the forecast period 2017 to 2025. The global water purifier market size, as per a report by Allied Market Research, was valued at $31,013 million in 2018, and is expected to reach $58,322 million by 2025, growing at a CAGR of nine per cent from 2019 to 2025. The water purifier market is defined as the market of the devices used to decontaminate water from harmful substances, chemicals, pathogens, microorganisms and other dissolved solids and to make it portable.
“Nasaka might also enter several new consumer electronics categories in 2020. The company is working on developing new software for smart home appliances,” added sources.
