Sony Launches Alpha A9 II Camera in India

Sony has launched the Alpha A9 II full-frame interchangeable lens camera in India. It has priced the product at a starting price of Rs 399,990 and will be selling it at the Sony Center and major electronics stores in the country.

The camera comes with a 24.2MP Exmor RS CMOS sensor with Bionz X image processor. It has 693 phase-detection AF points and 425 contrast-detect points with a 93 per cent coverage claims Sony. It is equipped with Sony’s AI algorithm that offers precise animal, face and eyes detection system by using AI to detect object recognition as per the company.

Voice memo feature

It can offer continuous shooting at up to 20 frames per second with auto focus and auto exposure tracking and up to 10 fps with the mechanical shutter. It also has voice memo feature that will allow the user to speak information that can be attached to images claims Sony.

The company says it offers video recording to up to 4K resolution at up to 30fps. On the connectivity, it supports dual-band WiFi, USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, HDMI, an audio jack, Ethernet port, two SD card slots with UHS-II support. As per Sony, the camera will be able to capture up to 500 shots with electronic viewfinder (EVF) on and up to 690 shots with EVF off.

The Sony A9 II offers video recording up to 4K resolution at up to 30fps. Connectivity options include dual-band WiFi, USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, HDMI, an audio jack, Ethernet port, two SD card slots with UHS-II support.

Sony says the camera will be able to capture up to 500 shots with electronic viewfinder (EVF) on and up to 690 shots with EVF off. It has a five-axis in-body stabilisation system with up to 5.5 stops of vibration reduction. It also comes with a three inch tilting 1.44 million dot touchscreen and a 3,686K dot OLED quad-VGA electronic viewfinder.

Research and development centre in India

Recently, Sony had announced setting up of a research and development centre in India. As per the company, the first centre in the country will be opened in Bangalore by 2020 becoming one of the seven Sony’s global research centres.
