Realme Looking to Partner with Offline Retail Chains to Expand Reach

• The company wants to expand its offline presence to 20,000 outlets in 150 cities.
• It has inked a deal with South’s leading cellphone retail chain, Sangeetha Mobile, to sell its products
• Realme X likely to be launched in India next month

Several retail chains had earlier stopped or refused to sell Realme smartphones due to low margin offered. The Chinese smartphone maker is now approaching them again for sales of its handsets to expand its offline presence.

Realme, which started operations last year May, is currently present in 8,000 offline stores in 50 cities across India and offline sales accounts for 20 percent of its revenue. The company wants to increase its offline presence to 20,000 outlets in 150 cities.

The company’s CEO Madhav Sheth told to ET that they have inked a deal with South’s leading cellphone retail chain, Sangeetha Mobile, to sell its products.

“We are discussing with all the big chains on margin, product placement and selling of accessories which we will launch in second half. If there is consumer demand then retailers will be bound to keep the product. We want to generate more demand,” Sheth was quoted as saying.

Six exclusive Realme stores soon

Realme is owned by China’s BBK Group that also owns Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus.

In the January-March quarter, Realme became the fifth largest last smartphone maker in India after Xiaomi, Samsung, Vivo and Oppo.

The company recently set up a separate entity in India – Realme Mobile Telecommunications. It plans to open six exclusive stores in large cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

Realme X coming to India next month!

The company is likely to launch Realme X in India next month. As per reports, it is partnering with Marvel’s soon-to-release “Spider-Man: Far From Home” film to launch the device.

The company’s India CEO Madhav Sheth has started teasing the Realme X Spiderman Edition on Twitter. He has also changed his Twitter name to “Madhav X”, hinting at the upcoming launch.

The phone that has been launched in China comes with a 6.53-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080×2340 pixels at a pixel density of 394 pixels per inch (ppi) and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.
