The company, led by Yogesh Bhatia had earlier made news by launching Detel D1 TV at a price tag of Rs 3,999 in India
Detel, a Gurugram based consumer electronics company may soon be launching a TV priced below Rs 3,999 in India. Yogesh Bhatia, founder Detel, took to Linkedin and announced that Detel will be launching a new TV around the upcoming Cricket World Cup 2019.
His Linkedin post read, “Detel is ready to launch an even MORE ECONOMICALTV on this World Cup 2019. Stay Tuned for further updates.” He also shared a teaser picture of the announcement.
Detel D1 is one of the most economical TVs in India right now
Detel had last year launched an LCD TV at a price tag of Rs 3,999 in India. Dubbed Detel D1, the TV features a 19-inch screen that offers a resolution of 1366×768 pixels. The company had earlier said that the TV comes equipped with an A+ grade panel that offers a contrast ratio of 3,00,000:1.
Yogesh Bhatia, at that time, told Electronics For You that “Penetration in states like Bihar, Jharkhand, UP, Uttrakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh is the main reason why we introduced world’s most economical TV in India. With this TV, we aim to reach to the remotest parts of the country where TV is still a luxury due to its affordability issue.”
Referring to a study he had pointed out that 35 per cent Indians still don’t own TVs or mobile phones. Detel’s aim, as per him, is to reach this segment and provide it with affordable TVs and mobile phones.
Possible launch of a 19 to 21-inch TV
The company is possibly looking forward to launch a TV in the 19 to 21-inch segment. This TV may features better resolution than the Detel D1 and will be priced around Rs 500 lesser than the same. Once launched, the TV may once gain bag the tag of most affordable TV in the country.
