Sennheiser Launches Earbuds That Support Apple Siri and Google Assistant

Sennheiser has announced the launch of Momentum true wireless earbuds in the country. The company claims that these earbuds can offer a four-hour battery life.

Kapil Gulati, Director, Consumer Segment, Sennheiser India, said that Momentum earbuds will raise the bar of wearable sound technology. The earbuds are rated IPX4 and splash resistant.

The company has priced these at Rs 24,990. Apple AirPods are currently retailing for Rs 12,900 on a popular omni-channel portal in India. There are companies that are offering wireless earbuds in prices below Rs 5,000 in the country.

True wireless earbuds market

The size of the global market for true wireless bearable stood 12.5 million units in Q4 2018, according to the findings of Counterpoint Research’s Hearables Market Tracker. The report said that in terms of brands, Apple was the clear leader with a 60 per cent market share.

However, Apple’s share was dented as customers waited for the new generation of AirPods, scheduled for launch in Q1 2019. The strong performance of second-tier brands, such as JLab and QCY, also had a negative impact on Apple’s market share.

Sennheiser Momentum features

The biggest feature of the Sennheiser Momentun earbuds, apart from its price, is the support of voice assistants including Apple Siri and Google assistant. These are based on Bluetooth v5.0 and weigh 13.2 g each.

Sennheiser claims that these can offer a a battery time of up to four hours, which can be maximized by up to 12 hours with use of rechargeable battery storage case. The battery takes up to 1.5 hours to recharge completely.
